Pangolins

Mapping pangolin trafficking

from Africa to Asia

This work is now published. Here's an easy to read synopsis, or you can listen to me talk about this project on the Science Podcast, starting at the 16 minute mark on Spotify or Apple Podcasts

Pangolins are the most trafficked mammals in the world. I'm part of a team at UCLA's Center for Tropical Research that's uncovering where African pangolins are poached and the routes they take to market. We used the latest genomic methods and worked with researchers across Central Africa, the US, and Hong Kong to develop forensic tests to determine where poached pangolins originated in Africa.
